Starting off with a couple new vid recs. No sadness this time around!
Hey Na Na @ YouTube
Comments Some of the best bits of the first two season two episodes wrapped in a cute, bubbly song. I keep rewatching this whenever I need a "remember how awesome season two was?" boost.
sherlock song spoof @ YouTube
Comments Sherlock set to various song snippets. So many laughs. My favorite is probably 1:30, which starts with John wondering why everyone thinks they're dating and—no, no I won't spoil that for you, see for yourself. *g*
Lies, Lies by legoline
Comments "Now here's the sun, it's alright! (Lies, lies!)" Beautifully edited Sherlock vid. (Okay, fine. Maybe a tiny bit of sadness.)
When I began looking for Sherlock fic I quickly got overwhelmed, not knowing where to start. So I took a closer look at the asexual!Sherlock trope and focused on that for a while, which is why there's a fair bit of asexual!Sherlock in here. Turns out it's one of my favorite things! It just ties in so neatly with my love for first times and only you and misunderstandings and confusion followed by happy endings, mmm.
These are all Sherlock/John. I tried to supply alternative links (LJ and AO3) where available. 18 recs this time around (gotta work off that backlog, oof). The summary is the summary given by the author. I haven't commented on all of them, that would've taken too long seeing as I really wanted them to go up today lest it takes me another four weeks, tralala. /o\
Planet Sherlock (@AO3) by pir8fancier (NC-17, 6k)
Summary John and Sherlock devise a rating system for their sexual encounters.
Comments John compares sex to murder to make Sherlock understand how much he enjoys sex. Excellent idea (if you ask me, *g*).
The Second Law of Thermodynamics (@AO3) by entangled_now (NC-17, 16k)
Summary In which there's no heating and there's a dead owl in Sherlock's bed.
Comments A series of four stories. The link goes to the serious tag on LJ and the series page on AO3. The first asexual!Sherlock fic I read.
The World on His Wrist & Elsewhere Come Morning (@AO3) by bendingsignpost (AU, PG-13 & NC-17, 67k)
Summary First, he is shot in Afghanistan. Second, he wakes to a phone call in Chelmsford, Essex. Third is pain, fourth is normalcy, fifth is agony and sixth is confusion. By the eighth, he's lost track.
Comments You know how sometimes you read something that is so well done you don't even know what to do with yourself? John switches between different realities, something he has no control over. In one he's still serving in Afghanistan, another is the one we know, in the third Sherlock didn't survive A Study in Pink, and in the fourth John saves Sherlock's life but keeps his distance. I have no idea how the author kept the realities straight, but they did and it's amazing and fascinating and I can't recommend this story highly enough.
Let You Kiss Me (So Sweet and So Soft) (@AO3) by out_there (PG, 8.7k)
Summary The first time Sherlock kisses him, John keeps his eyes open, and so does Sherlock, and mostly, he wonders what Sherlock could possibly be up to. There'll be some logic to this. Some ridiculous experiment about body warmth or respiratory rates or testing a new way of picking pockets. Sherlock does the unimaginable for bizarre reasons, but behind it, there's always logic and curiosity. Sometimes, it just takes him a while to explain it to John.
Comments This gave me so many happy, fluffy feelings. Oh, John. Oh, Sherlock. ♥
Behavioural Modification (@AO3) by bendingsignpost (NC-17, 23k)
Summary Whatever it took, he was going to make this work.
Comments Asexual!Sherlock. In Sherlock's mind it's perfectly reasonable to provide John with sex in exchange for tea (since, you know, he doesn't really want sex in return). John doesn't quite see it that way. Sherlock's POV, misunderstandings, a fair bit of angst. Delicious!
Lab Book @DW by sam-storyteller (R, 5k)
Summary "The likelihood of finding a cab on Christmas Eve is fast approaching nil." "So was the likelihood of you kissing me in the middle of the pavement, and yet."
Psychophysical Examinations of Perceptual Effects of Differential Somatic Stimulation (or: Fuck Off And Leave My Bloody Balls Alone, Would You, Sherlock?) @AO3 by jedusaur (NC-17, 2k)
Summary "Wait," says John. "Go over that again, the part about somatosensory stimulation?" He's not a neural specialist, but they don't let you graduate med school without learning a thing or two about the parietal lobe, and he's not at all sure he wants Sherlock using him as a subject for tactile sensation experiments. Particularly if they involve the removal of his trousers.
The Dim Doctor @AO3 by dogpoet (PG-13, 2k)
Summary How many times, and in how many ways, would he have to say it before John got the message?
Reignite (@AO3) by augustbird (PG-13, 9k)
Summary Based on a KMM prompt: John and Mary have a son, Hamish, then Mary gets ill and dies. John, who wasn't previously on speaking terms with Sherlock, moves back to Baker Street with Hamish in tow because he can't afford anywhere else on his own. Sherlock is surprisingly wonderful with the kid, and supportive of John (in his own, asshole-ish way).
Comments I scrolled past this half a dozen times before I gave it a chance, and it turned out to be well written and thoughtful with a kid that's completely believable. Yayness!
what does the world get (@AO3) by wreathsandbells (PG, 2k)
Summary A women's magazine quiz leads Sherlock to investigate the nature of love.
The Elephant in the Room (@AO3) by kantayra (PG-13, 4.7k)
Summary John is in love with Sherlock. He just isn't physically attracted to him. Fortunately, in Sherlock's mad world, that combination is ideal.
The Perils of Urban Warfare (@AO3) by phantomjam (PG-13, 7k)
Summary The problems of acclimatising to civilian life a.k.a the travails of John, his therapist and Sherlock.
Seeds (@AO3) by thesardine (PG, 5.5k)
Summary In a fit of boredom Sherlock plants some seeds, may or may not eat one cracker, and definitely languishes on the sofa for a while.
A Slowly Dawning Attraction by mitsuruaki (R, 12k)
Summary 5 times Sherlock and John nearly kissed at work, and 1 time they did.
Empty Skies by verasteine (R, 5k)
Summary Really, what he's left with in the end is a leg with a mind of its own, and it doesn't take kindly to being exploded at in a swimming pool. Or, how near-death experiences can change your life.
Inflammable @AO3 by dreamlittleyo (NC-17, 4.5k)
Summary Sherlock explains. John is still confused. Maybe things aren't that different after all.
Practical Angora Goat Raising by lavvyan (NC-17, 1.8k)
Summary John loves sex. Sherlock doesn't.
The Internet Is Not Just For Porn (@AO3) by cyerus (AU, PG, 2k)
Summary John is Sherlock's internet boyfriend - from Canada. No one thinks he's real.
Done, whew. Let me know if there are any broken links lurking about in there.
